The new DLC of Resident Evil Village dubbed “Shadows Of Rose” will reportedly conclude the Winters family saga
The announcement that the Winters family plot would conclude with Resident Evil Village’s upcoming Shadows of Rose DLC comes from Capcom.
Resident Evil Village’s Director Kento Kinoshita stated that Capcom is “creating” the new DLC specifically “to conclude the Winters family Saga”.
The new story DLC will arrive on the 28th of October. The four hours of content is now confirmed to wrap up the Winters family’s major role in the storyline of Resident Evil.
Ethan Winters, the main character of Resident Evil VII and Village, will now have his wife Mia and their daughter Rose to make up the Winters family. The post-credits sequence for Resident Evil Village reveals that Rose is now a teenager and works for Chris Redfield.
There was a hint that Ethan is still alive at the game’s conclusion. It now appears like the next DLC will address that issue as well.
Back in June on the PlayStation Blog Capcom wrote:
“Rosemary Winters, Ethan’s beloved daughter, has grown up and is now struggling with terrifying powers. In search of a way to break free from her curse, Rose enters the consciousness of the Megamycete. Rose’s journey takes her to a mysterious realm where memories of the past return to create a warped and twisted world of nightmares.”
As for what the new storyline will hold for Resident Evil In the future Capcom was less than forthcoming.
Producer Masachika Kawata simply laughed when asked what viewers may anticipate from upcoming RE installments. He added that they could “absolutely not” discuss any of their future plans.
In addition, Kinoshita and Kawata discussed the new third-person option that will be included in Resident Evil Village’s Gold Edition. He noted that the developers wished for fans to wonder “did they make this in third-person from the beginning?”
Kawata went on to say:
“That took about as much effort as creating a new game. Even the same game can be a very different experience when played in third-person.”
Kinoshita also chimed in about the work involved in the third-person mode stating:
“You know, we felt we had to make something as good or better than Resident Evil RE: 2 and RE: 3. Compared to the previous games in the series, Resident Evil Village has an exceptionally large variety of player actions.
You can guard, you can move while crouching, and there is a lot of examining objects. We made thorough adjustments to ensure that those unique animations would look completely connected and that it would be playable at a good tempo.”
This is exciting news for Resident Evil fans as it is evident that Capcom has no intention of slowing down when it comes to the franchise and that there will be a lot more content for fans to sink their teeth into.
