The new Netflix Cyberpunk 2077 series dubbed “EdgeRunners” has boosted the player count of the game exponentially
Netflix’s release of the Cyberpunk 2077 anime “Edgerunners” has given new life to the game. And given many a new opportunity to “give the game another shot”.
The last 24 hrs alone have seen a player count of over 85 000 according to sites like SteamDB. It is apparently the seventh most popular single-player game currently on Steam.
The number of players hasn’t been this high since the game’s launch. This is because many players stopped playing it after a number of bugs were found that turned many of them off.
The cyberpunk online anime series called Cyberpunk: Edgerunners is based on the video game cyberpunk 2077. This month saw the series premiere, which was made by Studio Trigger under CD Projekt Red’s direction.
The overview of the series states:
”In a dystopia overrun by corruption, crime, and cybernetic implants, an impulsive but talented street kid, after losing everything he has in a drive-by shooting, makes the choice to survive on the wrong side of the law as an edge runner; a high-tech, black-market mercenary also known as a “cyberpunk”.
Like many anime series, this one is a limited series with only 10 episodes. Every episode though will have you glued to the “edge” of your seat excuse the pun.
Cyberpunk 2077 has also recently received many bug fixes and patches with its most recent patch “patch 1.6” (you can read all about it here.)
Players will be able to use brand-new items from the anime series with the latest “Edgerunners” update to the game. This contains a shotgun that one character uses and the jacket that the anime’s main character, David Martinez, wears.
Additionally, it will have brand-new elements. These include a system for altering your appearance with new apparel, cross-platform advancement, playable Roach Race arcade cabinets, and more.
Overall, it’s a positive sign that, following a rocky launch. Cyberpunk 2077 is back in the good graces of the majority of gamers. The game’s ability to retain this player base is still up in the air, but even if it fails, this is a significant turnaround. And it’s possible that this number will be broken once more with the upcoming updates and a full DLC campaign.
