Sony Pictures has graced us with new images giving us some more insight into the Resident Evil Reboot that is Welcome To Raccoon City.
The movie will reportedly focus on the game’s origin story and will grace Movie Theaters on the 24th of November.
Fans of the franchise have been anticipating the arrival of Resident Evil: Welcome To Raccoon City for a while now and to satisfy our curiosity Sony has released son images from the upcoming film, these include a first look at who will play Leon Kennedy and Clair Redfield, Chris Redfield, Jill Valentine, and Albert Wesker, etc.
The film is being written and directed by Johannes Roberts who is famous for such titles as, 47 meters Down and The Strangers: Prey at Night.
The official overview states: “Once the booming home of pharmaceutical giant Umbrella Corporation, Raccoon City is now a dying Midwestern town. The company’s exodus left the city a wasteland… with great evil brewing below the surface. When that evil is unleashed, the townspeople are forever… changed… and a small group of survivors must work together to uncover the truth behind Umbrella and make it through the night.”— Sony Pictures Releasing.
Claire Redfield is being portrayed by Kaya Scodelario, Leon will be played by Avan Jogia. Albert Wesker will be played by Tom Hopper, Chris Redfield will be Robbie Amell, while Jill Valentine is being portrayed by Hannah John-Kamen and Brad Vickers who is being played by Nathan Dales.
All of which will be heavily armed creeping through the infamous Spencer Mansion. They will encounter Lisa Trevor on their journey who is being portrayed by Marina Mazepa.
Director Johannes Roberts said in an interview that the movie will be heavily inspired by Assault On Precinct 13 which is a well-known movie about a group that defends a police station from a mysterious gang.
The film’s plot will be based on the first two games and will be set in Raccoon City. It will bear little resemblance to past Resident Evil films, which will come as a welcome relief to die-hard Resident Evil fans.
The film follows Raccoon City’s transformation from a thriving industrial city to a decaying Midwestern town that has become the epicenter of the t-Virus pandemic.
Johannes Roberts noted that they worked closely with Capcom in developing the film and staying true to the game’s story line, in contrast to the previous films starring Mila Jovovich, which received a lot of flak from the gaming community due to its departure from the original story.
Resident Evil: Welcome To Raccoon City will be released in American theaters on the 24th of November, and fans of the franchise are already anticipating it. It’ll be interesting to watch how the writing comes together and whether or not this is the masterpiece we’ve all been waiting for.
