Developers Cite Technical Imperfections and Feedback from Gamescom as Reasons for Postponement

GSC Game World, the developer of Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl, recently announced a delay in the game’s release to September 5, 2024. The new date is now considered the “final release date” for this highly anticipated first-person shooter.

After a public demo at Gamescom, the development team received crucial feedback on the game’s technical performance. The feedback, coupled with identified technical imperfections, prompted the decision to postpone the release. The developers expressed their commitment to ensuring the final experience meets the high standards expected by the fanbase.

The statement acknowledged the challenges of the development process and emphasized the team’s dedication to delivering the game in Q1 2024. Despite working diligently to meet the initial release window, the developers acknowledged technical shortcomings that fell below the anticipated standards.

The new release date of September 5 is now deemed the “final release date” for Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl. The accompanying press release also reiterated the game’s availability on Xbox Game Pass from day one.

In the official press release, the developers provided more context, stating, “Throughout the frankly challenging development process, we understood the time was of the team’s main essence. Seeing the scope of polishing and understanding that we can’t push your patience too much, we were absolutely dedicated to releasing the game in Q1 2024. That, however, doesn’t change the fact that at the beginning of this year, we still witnessed a certain amount of technical imperfections that hold Stalker 2 below the expected standards for the final experience our fans are waiting for.”
