Developer Vows to Deliver the Ultimate Heisting Experience

Following a tumultuous launch in 2023, Payday 3 developer Starbreeze is determined to resurrect the co-op FPS and transform it into the quintessential heisting experience fans expect from a Payday sequel. In a comprehensive X thread, Starbreeze acknowledged player dissatisfaction and outlined its commitment to addressing concerns.

“We want to take some time today to explain what we’re planning for PAYDAY 3 going forward. We’re well aware that many of you aren’t satisfied with the game the way it is in its current state,” states the Twitter post. Starbreeze emphasizes that it has been actively collecting player feedback since the launch debacle.

To expedite the improvement process, Starbreeze has formed a “strike team of veteran developers” from various departments, including design, community, communication, and production. This team’s primary objective is to create a comprehensive plan that will elevate Payday 3 to meet player expectations. The plan will encompass both short-term fixes and long-term enhancements.

Starbreeze has committed to releasing this plan in February, providing players with insights into upcoming improvements and their expected timelines. The collaborative effort involves the Payday 3 team, as well as Almir Listo, the brand director and community head. The conclusion of the post directs players to the game’s “FeatureUpvote” = forum, where suggestions for game improvement can be submitted and evaluated.

Payday 3 encountered severe difficulties post-launch, including debilitating server issues that rendered the game unplayable for many users. Steam Charts data reveals consistently low concurrent player numbers, averaging less than 2,000 on Steam in the past two months. In comparison, the predecessor, Payday 2, maintains a robust player base, indicating the significance of Payday 3’s redemption for fans of the series. The developer’s redemption plan aims to restore confidence and entice players back into the world of high-stakes heists.
