Nightdive studios have been pretty hush-hush about the release date of the upcoming System Shock Remake. According to a Steam Store listing though the remake is set to be coming out next year in March.

An eagle-eyed insider also spotted the listing and Tweeted the news:

There is no guarantee that the March 2023 release date is the genuine one and it could just be a placeholder. Preorders for the game are currently available. It appears that if you preorder System Shock 2: Enhanced Edition, you will get it for free when it comes out.

The Steam overview states:

“System Shock is the fully-fledged remake of the groundbreaking original from 1994, combining cult gameplay with all-new HD visuals, updated controls, an overhauled interface, and all-new sounds & music; it even has the original voice actor of SHODAN, one of gaming’s most iconic villains. Witness the rebirth of one of the greatest and most influential games ever created.”

You can check out the official SteamStore page here.

Players in System Shock Remake battle the evil SHODAN, a creature hellbent on wiping out humanity, on an abandoned space station. Although the fundamental idea hasn’t changed. Nightdive Studios has totally redesigned the System Shock experience.

With new high-definition visuals, improved controls, a new user interface, and reworked sound effects and music.

While expanding the game’s Citadel Station with additional sections, traps, puzzles, and secrets for players to discover. Nightdive Studio worked closely with a number of System Shock team members to guarantee the game stays faithful to the original 1994 edition.

They said the remake would be ready soon. In April, Nightdive Studios declared that System Shock’s production was virtually finished. The game’s release in 2022 was greatly anticipated by fans as a result of this. There were more details made public this year about the game.

While this will make the delay disappointing, it may also mean that this is the final postponement gamers will experience.

Nightdive Studios hasn’t commented on the news yet but they did retweet the above tweet from Wario64 which is a promising confirmation of the news.
