The Founder and CEO of Bethesda Robert Altman is being memorialized by his team as a Friend, Leader, and Visionary.
Robert Altman has passed away at the age of 73. This sad news was shared via social media by Bethesda with a touching heartfelt tribute.
“We are deeply saddened to tell you of the passing of Robert A. Altman, our Founder, and CEO,” said Bethesda on Twitter. “He was a true visionary, friend, and believer in the spirit of people and the power of what they could accomplish together. He was an extraordinary leader, and an even better human being.”
Bethesda also said that through the tough times accompanied by the Pandemic, Altman would personally write encouraging e-mails to every member of Zenimax. In these e-mails, he encouraged them to keep their spirits high using anecdotes, tales, and positive words and encouraged them to take time for themselves. The company ends the tweet by thanking Altman for his considerable contribution to the company and extends its sympathies to his family.
Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella also took to Twitter to give his condolences.
Robert Altman leaves behind a great legacy filled with many important gaming franchises that have helped make the gaming industry what it is today. Some of these include Fallout, Doom, Quake, Wolfenstein, The Evil Within, The Elder Scrolls, Rage Prey, dishonored, and numerous others.
Altman was also the co-founder of Bethesda’s parent company Zenimax Media, which of course was bought out by Xbox last year. Zenimax’s board of director’s also boasted Hollywood Producer Jerry Bruckheimer, The president and CEO of CBS, Leslie Moonves, and Baseball legend Cal Ripken Jr among others.
He is survived by his wife Lynda Carter who is famous for playing Wonder Woman in the 70’s show of the same name, and their two children James and Jessica Altman. His son James works at Bethesda as Director Of Publishing Operations.
He will be missed by many in the Gaming industry.
