DreddForce Gaming is Headed by Anton Harmse, we found out what makes them a gaming Force to be reckoned with.
DreddForce Gaming is a community in its own right bringing fun and competition together for enthusiastic gamers.
MGR Gaming wanted to know more so we caught up with Anton Harmse himself and this is how the interview went down.
The first question we always want to know is Who is DreddForce Gaming and what is their backstory?:
“DreddForceGaming came to life as a collective idea from a few great minds, Early 2020 the DreddForce Discord group was created for a few team members to have a basis of communication while playing games, as we grew in size we saw an opportunity and we wanted to create a space for newer and older gamers to come together to experience the competitive scene of gaming in a different light, although this community was created with a lot of people helping in the background it is currently headed by Myself (Social Media Head), Andries Venter (Community Leader) and Vos Heath (Team Manager).”
So what is DreddForce Gaming’s Role in the gaming community? Here is what Anton had to say:
“After entering our first Valorant competitive game in 2021 and feeling the pressure of facing the highest-ranked teams in South Africa and losing motivation, we wanted to create small competitive leagues to introduce lower-ranked players in allowing them to excel and have fun while meeting new gamers looking for the same experience, instead of playing against the best of the best in the country and being put under the constant pressure of knowing that the chances of winning were zero to none as we’ve experienced in the past.
We would like to envision ourselves as a group/community that provides a space in the community for people who are new to competitive gaming and help them excel into the bigger leagues once they find the comfort of how fun competitive gaming can be.”
What is your favourite game or genre of game?:
“Within the DFG community, we have members that play games ranging from MOBA’s to FPS games however as the streamer and content creator for DFG, I do stream mainly FPS and RPG games, While I do take a moment to play games that can bring the community in and allow them to join in on the fun.”
What is their preferred Gaming platform?:
“We do tend to stick with the majority of PC players but with advances in communication being made such as discord being added to the PlayStation console we would like to expand into it more, as cross-platform gaming is also becoming more and more available on newer releases.”
What is his favourite thing about gaming?:
“I think we all would agree that gaming is something that can bring people together that would not meet under normal circumstances, we have had members from different countries join us, and allowed us to meet people from different cultures and different backgrounds. Gaming allows anyone to enjoy themselves and can be a source of joy no matter your age or situation.”
What exactly drives DreddForce Gaming’s Passion you ask?, we found out from Anton himself.:
“It’s a quite sweet and short answer, being able to bring people’s love for gaming together and having the opportunity to help people in the process of growing the communities to new heights.”
The question that is always on everyone’s mind is what are you currently working on and do you have any projects on the horizon?:
“We are currently running registrations for a League of Legends tournament as well as currently planning a Rainbow 6: Siege tournament following that. Our goal is to host around 4 tournaments throughout the year as well as similar smaller community get-togethers allowing the community to become more well-knit and provide help outside the gaming community. DreddForceGaming is a dream that we want to bring to the world and although we are still quite small in comparison to our bigger brothers and sisters in the community, we plan on helping them pave the road for bigger and better ideas in the South African gaming scene.”
