We know this is disappointing, but the extra time means we can accomplish more than we could if we rushed to release this year.
We won’t be staying quiet however, join us tomorrow for the global reveal of Grand Cathay… pic.twitter.com/R4GdObAs9P
Rob Bartholomew, Chief Product Officer at Creative Assembly stated: “The wait won’t be much longer, and we’ll have plenty of new information for you in the meantime. The new date will make for a stronger release and the best first step into a new era for Total War: Warhammer. We don’t consider this release the end of our trilogy, but the start of years of content and support as we continue to bring the jaw-dropping scale of Games Workshop’s fantasy universe to Total War”
Total War: Warhammer 3 is the third installment in the Total War series, and it will contain the same turn-based strategy and real-time tactics action as the other games in the series. In the campaign, players will move armies around the map and manage settlements in a turn-based manner. Players will engage in diplomacy with, and fight against, AI-controlled factions. The armies will engage in real-time combat, with a custom battles mode allowing players to construct their own real-time battles.

Owners of the first two games’ races will be able to play them in multiplayer in the third game; a merged world map, similar to the “Mortal Empires” campaign in Total War: Warhammer II, will also be built for owners of the first two games.
Creative Assembly has verified that the “mystery and majestic” Grand Cathay faction, “a land of harmony, enormous celestial cities and dragons, and one of the world’s most powerful armies,” will be revealed as planned. More details on siege fights and the Realms of Chaos will be revealed at the same time.
Total War: Warhammer III will be available on Microsoft Windows, Linux, and macOS at launch.

Although this news is a disappointment for those fans of the franchise and those awaiting a new adventure it is a good thing that the studio is not going to rush into releasing an unfinished or half-baked product. If the popularity of the prior games is any indication, this next installment will be well worth the wait.
