Just when we thought it couldn’t get any better…
Some key points that this game offers:
- Massive New Open World
- Incredible beauty
- Recruit Assassin’s
- New Gameplay Mechanics
- New Weapons and Gear
Gameplay & Controls:
The controls for the game have been updated slightly to offer us new and improved handling of Ezio. However, it was done in such a way that there is no confusion or difficulty adjusting to the new scheme. Ezio still handles just as beautifully as before, smooth and on point, whether you are chasing down an escaping target, or preying on a soon to be assassinated target! The experience isn’t just amazing it is new and enhanced.
We have some new weapons that have joined our arsenal. Poison, a one handed crossbow along with a variety of new weapons and gear that can be acquired throughout the game. Numerous additional side quests and extra activities have also been added to the game to enhance the experience.
Work closer together with your allies than ever before as you help them build up their guilds by doing unique quests for them. Shops can be bought and reopened all over Rome as you take down Borgia’s influence. These shops then can be used to buy and equip you with numerous gear as you unlock them. Some shops also offer quests that will reward you with unique weapons or gear pieces upon completion.
As an added extra, you can rebuild certain sections of Rome as well. This enhances the experience drastically and increases the beauty that is the AC Brotherhood. You literally take Rome back one block at a time from the Borgia. The journey is truly incredible.
The trailer took us by surprise when we saw Ezio taking on the Borgias singlehandedly and when things looked dire, we saw that he was not alone… Recruit and train your own assassins this time around. As Borgia’s influence is taken down you will unlock recruiting missions. Train these Assassins and as they go up in rank, so do their prowess… Never struggle alone again with them at your side!
The story is bigger and the threat greater than ever before! The new mechanics and new gear open up so many possibilities to get to your target and take them down.
Graphics:
A massive step up from ACII. ACII was beautiful do not get me wrong, but Brotherhood received some nifty improvements. Textures are cleared and the lighting has also been improved. Building architecture is another marvel with every building looking fantastic.
The day and night cycles are just as beautifully implemented with the shadow rendering doing an amazing job again this time around. Character modelling is simply amazing. There are so many faces, so many appearances and they all look unique down to the last dress.
Cinematics are an absolute blast to experience. Very art like and the colour variations are great.
Sounds:
Nothing makes a Legendary sequel even more so than a masterfully crafted soundtrack. That is what we have here! Every tune enhances every aspect of the game tenfold… Whether you are in the heat of battle fighting for your life, or stealthily stalking your prey, the soundtrack will bring the experience to life tenfold!
Background sounds do just as much by bringing all the little things to life and utterly making this an unforgettable experience. Voice over artists did an impeccable job bringing their characters to life with some amazing voice over work and the scripts were created just as beautifully.
Replayability:
Brotherhood is the first game that offers us multiplayer. There are eight different game modes to try out. We have Wanted, Alliance, Manhunt, Chest Capture, Advanced Wanted, Advanced Alliance, Escort, and Assassinate. Multiplayer also comes with its own levelling system that will get you new perks and abilities as you level up.
The singleplayer campaign itself also offers a lot of replay value. There is a lot of additional activities to partake in; From side quests to rebuilding Rome and collecting treasures and other trinkets. This alone will keep you occupied for a few days.
MGR Gaming’s Conclusions:
Spoilers Ahead:
AC2 blew us out of the water by being an insanely great sequel to an already great game. Here comes Brotherhood and it does just that again. Ubisoft did something great with these games, and just like myself, many of us simply can’t get enough of these games.
The new mechanics and weapons are great! That crossbow really is a game changer that quickly helps you even the odds, then there are those recruits of yours. They take the entire game and enhance the potential and outcome immensely. Every hunt or quest that allows for them, is so much more unique with new methods to go about completing your mission. This new addition is an absolute marvel.
The story line is just as mysterious yet still so captivating and alluring… One thing that they made sure of is that every little aspect of Brotherhood will be a step up from ACII, they did this rather perfectly…
Multiplayer is a neat add on if you are keen to take on other Assassins. There is an abundance of game modes to try out and it comes with its own levelling system too. There is more, but I suggest you get this marvel and try it out for yourself.
