Aesthetics:
No RGB accompanies the Sheath. However, with its already unique appearance, it is hardly necessary.
Pretty much every peripheral on my personal computer has RGB and as much as the extra lighting adds to the visual Aesthetics of your system. It isn’t a must-have.
I for one must admit that it is nice to see an amazing product that doesn’t sport RGB for a change.
Sporting a two-tone finish of black and grey. The colours match perfectly. On the right, we have the ROG eye. On the left of the mouse pad, we have ROG Cybertext.
As far as mouse pads without power requirements go, this is more than enough.
The mouse pad’s surface itself also looks very pleasing with a smooth finish that is just very eye-catching.
Comfort:
It’s a big one so ample space is available for your keyboard and mouse with some space spare.
So spacing will not be an issue here. It’s worth mentioning that the Sheath has a nonslip base so once put in place it will remain there securely even when you are busy Gaming your heart out.
It offers smooth gliding and to this, I can attest. This mouse pad makes it effortless almost to use your mouse. I’ve tried with a few to be honest. The Redragon Chroma, the Razer Naga Trinity, and then the ASUS ROG Spatha X, and the outcome was the same every time.
The smooth gliding that it offers is simply amazing. This is thanks to the intricately-woven surface. All of this is on a playfield of 900mm by 440mm. Now that’s some serious gaming capabilities.
Durability:
The mouse pad features an anti-fraying stitching frame. This ensures the durability and longevity of the mouse pad. Something we can all appreciate.
Too many things these days barely survive their warranty period and then need replacing.
According to ASUS, they put the Sheath through hell to test it to ensure it meets their standards.
“It’s been subjected to a barrage of stress tests, including a mouse glide distance of more than 250km, and exposure to temperature extremes of -30°C and 60°C for 57 hours. Its 3mm thickness also ensures a comfortable cushioned surface too.”
Not sure whether any mouse pad requires that amount of intense testing, however it is good to know that I can take my Sheath with me to War should the need arise. At least one of us will survive.
MGR Gaming’s Conclusions:
I was impressed by this one. It ticked all the boxes and I ended up keeping it for personal use.
It’s the first peripheral I’ve owned in years that does not have RGB and I welcome the sight.
It’s massive and an absolute pleasure to use. Pinpoint accurately is on par for a change. It may seem a tad pricey due to it not having RGB, but the sheer quality and size of the mouse pad more than make up for that.
The ROG Cybertext on the mouse pad really looks great and adds just enough flair to your system. Sure RGB would have done the same but it is not a must. It’s nice to see pleasing appearances without RGB for a change.
