Aesthetics:

The design of this router is futuristic and very angular. Your setup will turn heads with this beautiful addition with its RGB lighting and the distinctive ROG eye. The four antennas are very distinctive and give the router an almost spiky appearance.

In addition to LED activity indicators for power, WAN, and both radio bands, the cabinet has a black textured top and a Republic of Gamers badge.

There are also four gigabit LAN Ports, a USB 3.2 port, and a power jack. A power switch, a WPS button, and a reset button. You won’t find any multi-gig ports, but you can configure the GS-AX54’s LAN ports for live streaming.  Unfortunately, there is only one USB present.

Design and Build:

The ASUS ROG GS-AX5400 is designed with form and function in mind as well as durability. Finished in black, the router is made of a tough durable plastic that is immediately noticeable for its quality.

The router was designed to be very power efficient. This was accomplished by integrating “Target Wake Time”, which allows the router to schedule specified intervals for devices to transmit data.

ASUS is known for producing high-quality products, and the ROG Strix GS-AX5400 is a high-end gaming router that is designed to withstand heavy usage. The device has a solid build quality and features a robust cooling system, which helps to prevent overheating and extends the lifespan of the components.

In terms of maintenance, it’s important to keep the router clean and free of dust and debris and to make sure that it is not exposed to extreme temperatures or humidity. Additionally, firmware updates and regular security patches should be applied to ensure that the router remains up-to-date and secure.

Both include a ton of settings that can be adjusted to optimize your network for gaming, but we found that the mobile app has a nicer layout than the web console.

For gamers who prefer a tethered connection, the GS-AX5400 offers extra options in that respect as well. This comes in the form of a Gaming Port.

Without any additional configuration, the router treats any device connected to the Gaming Port as having the highest priority.

Over and above all the technical functions available with this router there is also ASUS Aura RGB support. With integrated Aura RGB LED lighting, you can match your gaming rig’s colour scheme perfectly. With the ASUS router app or web GUI, you can customize lighting effects and colours.
