Aesthetics:
It’s Clappy, and he is beautiful! He has been perfectly modelled from the original from the Borderlands Franchise. His appearance is an exact match of the original, right down to the paint job, the scuff marks and other key features you will note in the game.
The level of detail is pretty great, and it is a real beauty.
Durability:
The base is pretty sturdy, there are no concerns that the figure will fall over or that the weight of your device will make it tumble.
The statue is made of Heavy Duty PVC. This is a much hardier material than the standard resin designs.
The only thing here that I have to mention.
User Friendly & Functionality:
The arms themselves are quite flexible, at first one would assume that this is a good thing. However, it does complicate matters a bit. The purpose of this statue is to hold your controller/ mobile device. However, with the arms being so flexible, they struggle to maintain the weight of your device.
Unless it is perfectly placed on the pull out tray, this statue struggles to properly hold the remote. The added charging cable is another neat add on. However, I feel with this design it is another flaw instead. With the tray holding your remote up it also covers the charging port on most controllers making it impossible to charge the controller while it is on the stand.
MGR Gaming’s Conclusions:
There is good and bad for sure. However, if you are a Borderlands fan then this is a must have piece. It’s big and it will fit perfectly in your collection. Sure, there are a few design flaws that could have been taken intro consideration, but personally I bought this as a figure because I love Claptrap.
Both the controllers I have will struggle to charge while on the stand, however for my mobile device it works perfectly. So, there are ways around its design flaws. The size and design of this little piece is quite amazing.
