Recall that amazing adventure we had on Pandora? Killing Bandits, Skags, and all sorts of other things… Well it is back with its first DLC; The Zombie Island of Dr. Ned
Please note that this Review may contain spoilers from the Base game
Some key points that this game add on has to offer:
- Zombies man…
- Remember that blind and one-legged man in the beginning when we were still a rookie Vault hunter?
- Over 20 new missions that will give you hours of playtime.
- This add on gives the player an additional 5 Trophies or Achievements to collect for the original game.
- New Claptrap rescue missions, giving you more bag space.
- Zombie themed enemies, environments and bosses.
- Playing this add on: Minimum level requirement is 10, The enemies scale towards your characters current story progression in playthrough 1, 2 and 2.5.
- Enemies scale up to a level of 69 (except for some defilers in the second playthrough reaching level 70).
Replayability:
This DLC shares the same replay value that the base game offers.
The DLC can be continued with a current character at its current level, whether the character has completed playthrough 1 or not. The player can simply reload playthrough one and start the DLC or continue it with their current playthrough, be it 2 or 2,5. Or you can start a new character all together and do them as you go.
MGR Gaming’s Conclusions:
This DLC can be accessed using the Fast Travel system and heading for the starting location of Jakobs Cove. The mission Skags At The Gate must be completed before travelling to Jakobs Cove becomes available.
The game opens with Marcus telling a story, that introduces us to Jakobs Cove and what is going on there, as we arrive there, we are contracted to keep the remaining living workers alive. The game DLC offers several side missions including a grinding one involving a certain NPC and Zombie heads which will take a bit of time to complete while perfecting your headshot skills. The entire region is a dark theme to compliment the Zombie aspect, every creature you will face is a zombie form of the bandits we have come to love killing in Borderlands, all with their own midgets all the way to badasses.
Our end goal will be to eradicate the source of the Zombies, in other words track down the mad doctor making them. Jakobs cove is full of new nooks and crannies to explore and plenty of side quests to give you that extra enjoyment we have come to experience in Borderlands…
