A brilliant little adventure lies in wait for you.
Some key points that this game offers:
- Beautiful scenery with stunning visuals.
- Amazing Soundtrack.
- Pretty decent story line.
Gameplay & Controls:
This is really one of those little gems where sitting back and enjoying the experience simply isn’t enough, this game really is a major improvement or step up in terms of quality and story from Fox Hime itself, the developers really took what they had back then and made it better and so much more enjoyable. The game is a visual novel at heart so you can either let the story unfold as you sit back and enjoy it or you can manually click to progress or use the mouse wheel to move back to previous scenes or forward to the next scene.
The Right Mouse button can be used to hide the UI or clicking the eye icon in game will also hide it so that screenshots can be taken. Speeds for the text can also be set to a pace of your convenience.
Graphics:
We have an absolutely beautiful setting, wooded and forestry areas filled with vibrant and rich colours. In most visual novels there will be a select few images to depict the wooded areas or areas in general with some changing to the time of the day as well, but here we have a variety of different depictions all carefully detailing these areas, telling you the story of where you are. Each scene was created with maximum effort to truly offer us a beautiful story, whether it’s in the light of day or the sun’s rays shining through, each scene looks marvelous.
The in town settings are quite short but the accompanying artwork is just as great and carefully created.
The character designs are gorgeous they are simply beautiful to look at, what’s more is the small animated sequences that follows them. It may not be much but it is a great start to fantastic visual novels and given how cost efficient this one is this is a major add on. Let’s face it there are others out there with numerous titles behind their name who are far behind this little gem right here. On the settings side of things, we have Window Mode/ Full Screen Mode choices along with impressive resolution options all the way too 2560×1440.
Sounds:
An amazing soundtrack that truly enhances the game accompanies this gem, not only does the sound fit in perfectly with the game but each scene feels more suiting, more fun to experience with the amazing music.
It really sets the tone for the game, the character voices for Mori and Lord Sky Fox are beautifully done. The language is in Japanese though, but the lips move as they speak to truly give new meaning to bringing a visual novel to life.
Last but not least most scenes have their own background music that plays when you visit these scenes giving them their own liveliness such as the running stream, truly enhancing an already amazing experience. On the settings side of things, we have full control over all the sound, whether it’s the Music, the Character voices or the Background music, we can set it all to our own preferences.
Replayability:
The game falls a bit short in this department; it doesn’t offer multiple endings or different choices, its one story that plays out before you. The game however was designed to be a simple story that plays out, with no intent or means to be replayed.
Sure, we love this feature and usually it’s a must but given how cheap and affordable this little game is, it is pretty decent without this feature. So, no points lost here for lacking this feature.
MGR Gaming’s Conclusions:
Spoilers Ahead:
Fox Hime Zero plays off in an explorative nature setting, with Yan a student of Natural History who has been tasked to live a year out in a wooded cabin researching the surrounding areas, taking notes and noting the natural occurrences within the forest.
As Yan goes about doing his work tasked to him by his mentor, he is watched from afar by Mori a Fox Spirit who inhabits this forest and calls it home. Shortly after meeting they form a friendship with Yan teaching her about simple things such as time or books, things she doesn’t understand and, in this getting, to know each other experience a romance start brewing. This is where I leave you, it’s best left for you to experience this fresh with your own eyes.
All in all, Fox Hime Zero is a stunningly beautiful visual novel with amazing sound and in game music that really enhances the overall quality off the game. Given how cheap the game sells for it is a must have for any visual novel fan or if someone is looking at trying something new.
