Design and Build:
Even though this is considered a budget SSD, the Maxell SSD is still built pretty decently. This is an internal drive so that reduces much risk of it getting damaged. Once plugged in, it should stay in and for that purpose, the Maxell is pretty much perfect.
Supporting SATA III gives you incredible fast reading and writing speeds, and that is what we want. The casing itself is fairly standard but not much more is required of an internal drive.
Power Usage:
For some reason, I could not find any technical details on the Maxell drive online. So, I reverted to some simple pc-based tests to determine usage.
I stand to be corrected on these outcomes, normally I do not make use of such results because they will always differentiate from machine to machine. The Maxell seems to stick to general low power usage similar to those of other SSDs.
It goes without saying that higher-tier SSDs will have much better usage protocols such as DevSleep, features we do not seem to have here.
Performance:
This might be a budget-based SSD, but it will still give you the performance boost you require of an SSD. Upgrading from an HHD to this SSD will still give you an incredible boost in performance, making this the perfect budget upgrade.
- Read Speed – 500 MB/s
- Write Speed – 430 MB/s
- SATA III 6GB/s
As you can see here, the Maxell supports SATA III which is still currently in use. Then the read and write speeds are pretty decent and will give you all the performance boost you require.
MGR Gaming’s Conclusions:
Getting more info on the Maxell brand proved to be difficult at first and that’s never good. If one requires additional information on products, they should be easily obtainable.
Other than that, I don’t have any other issues with this SSD. It performs beautifully. It goes for a decent price if you’re tight on funds and it will more than exceed your expectations.
