Aesthetics:
This mouse has a striking lattice design with a futuristic look. The scrolling wheel has a tire design which just adds to the badassery of this mouse. This mouse is perfect for someone who wants to be out of the ordinary and stand out.
It boasts a classic, streamlined design with a matt black finish and light grey support feet on the bottom.
The latticework design extends to the bottom of the mouse as well bringing the whole design together. There are two additional functioning buttons on the mouse’s left side, as well as a dpi button in the center; these buttons are all extremely subtle and blend in nicely with the mouse’s overall design.
It is important to note that this is a right-handed mouse even though the site boasts that it is ambidextrous as there are two buttons on the left side of the mouse.
Comfort:
Pure 100 % PTFE feet with low friction enable a quick and smooth glide on the mouse pad. The buttons are very clicky on the m4 air but some people like that, it would just be a bit noisy if you are in a quiet work environment.
The mouse feels very tactile because of its latticework design, even if I dare say a little cheap, but saying that it is super comfortable and has a matt finish that is soft to the touch so over time it does become one with your hand.
Durability:
The rock-solid design means you won’t have components coming off all willy-nilly. This mouse has a USB2.0 with a non-detachable power chord. The chord I find is quite loose and could possibly tangle and knot.
The M4 air includes an antibacterial coating and an IPX6 water repellent coating on the internal circuit board, which in theory means it can withstand even intense sprays of water but not full immersion. Good for accidental spills but I wouldn’t test it on purpose just in case.
However, ASUS advises that if any liquid gets on the mouse, it should be allowed to dry for 24 hours before using it again.
Cleaning the mouse is as simple as blowing out any debris with compressed air to keep your unique mouse dust and particle free.
User Friendly & Functionality:
The mouse has a max speed of 40 g’s acceleration, a thousand-hertz polling rate, and a max DPI of 16 000.
Although this mouse is a gaming mouse it does come equipped with angle snapping but can be turned on or off with the software which is a good thing as angle snapping isn’t very useful when you are gaming. The sensor tracks beautifully and smoothly, and the mouse has 4 DPI settings which you can set according to your taste.
This mouse uses the ASUS Armoury-Crate software where you can program the programmable buttons on the mouse to your liking. You can even adjust the four dpi stages and switch angle snapping on or off from this software but make sure you have the updated version. you can even calibrate your liftoff distance for the mouse via a tab on the software.
You may customize the buttons and program them with keyboard actions, macros, multimedia playing, screenshot capabilities, and more using the software.
You may also create numerous profiles and switch between them whenever you like, so there are plenty of possibilities for multiple games or multiple gamers using the same PC.
This all sounds quite complicated but it is actually a very user-friendly software and easy to set up your mouse.
MGR Gaming’s Conclusions:
We conclude that this is an amazing little lightweight mouse with no fancy-schmancy frills like RGB lighting or removable button panels but it has everything you need as far as a gaming mouse goes and is really beautiful to behold, giving you something unique and different for a great price.
When I first opened the mouse and held it I was concerned about the weight and the open design because of dirt and dust getting in etc but this mouse quickly grew on me and I ended up really enjoying it.
It moulds to your hand and you eventually forget it’s there. The tracking is so smooth and it has all the basic features one needs for work or gaming, many gamers prefer a heavier mouse like me but this little dynamo won me over.
