Absolutely gorgeous!

Gameplay & Controls:

This beauty was created perfectly for PC gamers; Monster Hunter has always been a console based game thus the controls were perfectly matched to the gameplay.

Monster Hunter: World’s controls remain just as perfectly matched, whether you play on console or PC, the game offers controller support for the PC players but the keyboard controls work perfectly on this game and we have full control over remapping the keys to our preferences.

Death
To the death!

The game handles beautifully and it plays just as great. The control options for the game might work well for most whilst others might want to rebind some of the keys to better suit their style of game, either way the outcome will be amazing and one fun experience.

Monster Hunter has a large universe full of lore that can be read up on online for newcomers to the series.

A brief introduction would be as follows, The Elder Dragons that inhabit this world migrate once every decade to the New World, a region that has many mysteries and even more secrets. This Elder migrating causes a lot of destruction in its wake and then to discover why it happens and three reasons behind it the Guild has formed the Research Commission. This commission has dispatched massive fleets to this new world to learn all that can be learned from this mysterious behaviour.

Travel
Travel in style!

The gameplay takes place in this mysterious new world, divided into five massive regions that gives the player complete freedom to explore and interact in, they are unlocked one at a time as the player progresses in the Main Story. The game gives you complete freedom to play the game, albeit not everything is unlocked from the start, as you play and obtain items more of the game’s features become available to you.

The game has a lot of RPG elements in terms of gathering, looting and upgrading gear and equipment. There is a grand number of this available to you with many more to come.

Feast
Hunters need their strength!

The games “acts” are divided up into your HR (Hunter Rank); which determines how good of a hunter you are, with enough main missions completed, you will be given a tough hunt to complete and completing this will raise your HR cap to the next level. It will progress in the same manner until you complete the entire campaign and then all the extra HR experience you’ve built up will go towards your HR and you will have free reign to level up as you complete objectives.

Graphics:

Down right gorgeous, for a game of this size and in this scale, it really looks breathtakingly beautiful. Capcom did an outstanding job here in every aspect. Each region you travel to has its unique eco system and animals and flora that inhabits it.

These regions were perfectly created, full of vibrant warm colours representing the life that is all around. The houses, the unique plants in each region adds so much realism to it. Whether you are traversing the massive trees within the Ancient Forest that is green and lush around you with numerous small water streams adding life to it, or the Coral Highlands which used to be part of the ocean. Coral is everywhere and the unique bright colours and shapes that it has is still perfectly visible and can be seen throughout this region as you track your prey down.

Fishing
That is a big one.

The day and night cycles have been created just as beautifully, the sunsets and sun rises are truly remarkable to watch as they slowly approach and fade away. The same can be said about the weather, whether it is a clear sunny day or a stormy night, the occurrence is beautiful and a great work of art.

Character design is just as amazing, unique features are present on every NPC that the game has, their behaviours and appearances were all uniquely created to give us very lifelike and realistic characters. Every region has its own fauna, some as small as ants and others as large as Dinosaurs. Every one of these creatures have received the exact same amount of effort to ensure they look as realistic and lifelike as can be.

Home
Home is where the critters are!

Sounds:

Just as marvelous as the rest of the game, not only does the sound add to the game, it is a key element that adds to the life this game offers. Not only can you see your reflection as you wade through the water but you can hear the motion your steps create in the water, a unique experience, and this beauty houses a great many of these.

Trekking through the forest can easily be felt as you hear all the life that surrounds the forest, without spoiling the other areas. I’ll stick to stating that they have their very own methods of showcasing where you are. Every aspect of this game has received its own unique tune to add to and enhance the overall quality of the game.

Monster
Look at the size of that thing!

Animal sounds and roars are just as remarkably done especially since they play a vital part in the game’s main mechanics. A great deal of effort went into all of this to ensure that the outcome will not only be a success but a memorable experience.

To top it all off is the stunning soundtrack that just further enhances the already high standard sounds of this game, good times lie ahead here…

Replayability:

An RPG game today that does not offer Replayability in its main playthrough is not worth its salt! Monster Hunter: World is no different, the games have a massive grind requirement, if you want to be clothed in the best it will require numerous hunts to obtain all those materials to forge and upgrade your equipment.

Sunset
Sunsets are gorgeous here!

The game offers online play so the replay value there is untold, you and your friends can take on these monstrous beasts in cooperative assaults with new strategies and multi weapon type hunts opening doors for numerous fun and advantageous hunts.

The game also offers weekly events and unique challenges and objectives that can be completed adding to the replay value effort.

MGR Gaming’s Conclusions:
Spoilers Ahead:

When it comes down to the numbers Monster Hunter: World is not just a near perfect port, but an amazing intro into this massive and beautiful universe for PC players and players that have yet to delve into this universe.

This
Take this!

The game is full of lore and informative bits that give you little bits of info and backstory regarding this enormous world.

Some of the best features this game offers in my opinion are the stamina and health maintenance. Not only do you have to replenish them as you use or lose them on a hunt or exploration, but the longer you are out and about the heavier the toll gets on your body and the maximum amount of health and stamina that you have gets lowered. This can be replenished in numerous ways, such as potion crafting, and eating meals, both very important mechanics of this game.

Way
We are en-route…

There are fourteen different weapon types in the game and you have access to them all from the very beginning, you can visit the training room and experiment and see where your favourite or favourites lie and then work in mastering those weapons. This is something we do not always have so it is refreshing.

Each weapon has its own unique style of use and special abilities. Another unique aspect here is the sharpness meter of your blade, the more you use them the duller the blade gets and when it hits rock bottom it will have to be re-sharpened. The game is full of these unique add ons that add to the overall enjoyment of the game, but this is where I leave you…

Coming
I’m coming for you!

Buy it and experience the thrill of Monster Hunter: World for yourself.
