Design and Build:

These are some pretty decent values for the selling price of this hardware.  The drive comes in a black casing with the drive itself also being black. The casing has the Seagate logo on it and on the drive side there is the information sticker we have always had on drives.

The drive names say it all, and it may sound limiting now that we are in the RGB age of decorating. However, to be honest, our drives are usually tucked away out of sight so having a drive that looks more pleasing on the eyes won’t make much difference here.

From HDD to SSD via SSD.

The job that it has, it performs beautifully. No matter the load you throw at it, these monsters were designed to take on any load and reduce it to mere bytes in quite a short amount of time.

These drives are available in several sizes, it all depends on your needs.

Power Usage:

Active power, average: 3.1W, 2.8W, 2.6W, 2.6W
Idle power, average: 225mW, 221mW, 192mW, 185mW
DevSleep: 5mW, 5mW, 5mW, 5mW,

Performance:

It goes without saying that Seagate has always been a top performer in the storage sector of hardware, and these Barracuda drives are no different. They are top performers to rely on.

Here you can see some Benchmark scores performed on a brand new drive using Crystal Disk Mark 7. The one test was a Real World and the other one was Peak Performance.  Below you can see some screenshots of the Benchmarks.

Peak Performance test.

As I mentioned, the price you pay for this drive really makes it a steal, it is super-fast and very efficient…

MGR Gaming’s Conclusions:

When it comes down to it all, the Barracuda has its flaws, when the cache is depleted it does slow down, however, this is the same for every other drive out there. What we do have here is a powerful and very fast SSD drive that sells for a steal.

It is something that the average gamer can afford and it will increase their gaming performance and enjoyability quite a bit.
