Step back into the World of Elder Scrolls, in an adventure unlike anything else you’ve experienced thus far.
Some key points that this game offers:
- Full Character Customization.
- First and third person melee and Magic.
- Impressive and Radiant AI that gives each character including NPC’s their own schedules and routine’s.
- Massive open world full of adventure.
Gameplay & Controls:
The controls for the Console version are pretty straightforward with limited remapping options, but as it is the controls have been neatly mapped making it easy and comfortable to make use of the game mechanics in all its splendour. On the PC version we have the full power of the keyboard and mouse, we have a larger remapping variety but as it stands the game does handle very well with the settings as it is.
The game itself plays and handles very smoothly in terms of controlling your character and the world around it.
The gameplay is truly astounding, there is a massive open world, just waiting for you to explore… There is loot, magic, quests and so much more in the world of Oblivion. Go where you want and do whatever you want.
Start with the main quest line or take on one of the many side quests that the game has, or even better start one of the Faction quest lines… Become a member of the Wizards guild… The fighter’s guild or join The Dark Brotherhood and murder in the name of Sithis.
The game has so much to offer that it will keep you entertained for a great many hours.
Graphics:
Given the scale and open world environment, the game looks absolutely beautiful, from the wide variety of foliage to the ancient ruins that we explore. A lot of detail went into each aspect to make them as real as possible.
The game loads a large portion of the current area of the world you are in, generating all of its splendour for you to enjoy, this loading takes but a few seconds, depending on your machine. Character detail has been done brilliantly, as I mentioned we have full customizable options to truly create a character to suit our every need. The process takes time but what make over doesn’t. In game characters, NPC’s and enemies have been given the same treatment, they are all unique and quite marvelous to behold.
The same can be said for the variety of wildlife we engage in and other monsters. All unique and quite beautiful.
The game has several options for us to customize how the game runs and plays on the PC version of the game. As for consoles the game runs pretty smoothly and is thoroughly enjoyable.
Sounds:
Another brilliant add on to the game, the soundtrack is simply amazing, it not only sets the pace of the game, but it enhances that liveliness that it generates. It makes each unique occurrence that much more enjoyable… The music really sets the tone as you explore ruins, or the large open world, it makes it that much more fun and just soothing, as you quest for loot.
The character voice overs are another stunning addition to the game, each character has their own voice patterns and voice, adding to that already lifelikeness that the AI generates. In game sounds are the last but not least amazing add on here. From the battle sounds to the small sound add ons such as jumping or the galloping noises from your horse. They all come together beautifully making the overall gameplay so much more memorable.
Replayability:
The game has a lot to offer, from a major campaign that opens up a variety of side quests to even more side quests.
The game has several Factions that you can join, each offering their own questlines. There is so much exploring to do to find suitable loot and to generally grind for levels and making money that you will be entertained for days to come.
MGR Gaming’s Conclusions:
Spoilers Ahead:
The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion® is truly a masterpiece, the game looks absolutely gorgeous. The large open world has been beautifully created bringing us a world that is alive, filled with people, magic, monsters and so much more.
This beauty will keep you entertained for no short period of time. To truly explore every bit that The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion® has to offer will take up a great deal of time and effort, but every second of that will be well invested. There are more than enough quests to make it worthwhile.
The game truly sets a new standard for Open World RPG’s, and it goes without saying that this is a major sequel to its predecessors.
Simply a must play game.
