The Elder Scrolls Online Review

The adventure never ends! Lose yourself in the beautiful Universe of The Elder Scrolls!

Some key points that this game offers:

  1. Monthly subscription required to play
  2. Numerous Races to choose from
  3. Character Classes
  4. Massive Open World full of joy and wander
Start
As per custom, we start in chains!

Gameplay & Controls:

The controls for the game are pretty straightforward. You have the freedom to remap keys to your liking which may come as a welcome surprise. You can easily remap your skill use buttons and other in-game functions.

Given the size and scale of the game, there are a lot of overlay functions, they are all decently displayed and easily accessible. It merely comes down to your preference and what is comfortable for you.

Big
Now this is one big shroom!

There are several Races that you can choose from, Redguards, Dunmer, and Khajiit for example. Once you have chosen your Race you can choose the class that you want to play as. Some choices here are Sorcerer, Templar, and Dragonknight.

The game takes place during the Second Era, about eight hundred years before the events of The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind and The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion.

As per Elder Scroll custom, you start the game as a prisoner. Shortly after escaping, you set out on a grand quest of reclaiming your stolen soul. No simple task lies ahead. Tamriel is a powder keg ready to blow and you have chosen a side. That side will require you to take up arms against the other factions. The goal here is the Imperial Throne. You will be sent upon numerous quests in your journey that will make each experience memorable and thoroughly fun.

Lava
Things are getting quite hot here.

To put it frankly, there are loads to do, and you will never run out of things to do, whether you are questing solo or with friends. The same goes for crafting and exploration. This world is so big that you will lose yourself in it.

Being an MMO means that there will be bugs and things that go awry, however, given that ZeniMax Online Studios spent nearly a decade developing this game it is safe to say they will keep their hands on the ball to make sure things stay in favour of the players.

Graphics:

Quite beautiful to say the least. For a world this big, there is an incredible amount of detail in everything. Every region you travel to looks absolutely gorgeous. The unique landscapes surrounding each region have been beautifully modelled to represent a realistic and life-size version of said regions for us to explore.

From the wilds to the cities, everything is so inviting, so vibrant and so lifelike. It is an adventure waiting to be had. Trotting through the waters and making your way across cliffs. This beauty offers it all.

Fight
Plenty of bosses waiting on you!

Character design is another remarkable feature here. This is especially wonderous given how much freedom we have to customize and adorn our chosen characters. This goes for the character creation and in-game customization too.

We have a variety of options in the settings panel to customize our gameplay experience.

Sounds:

Masterfully composed. Every melody has been carefully crafted to ensure that it will enhance our experience, and that is exactly what it does. Whether you are questing or exploring the wilds, there is fantastic music accompanying you.

Rare
That is not something you see everyday…

Thick in the heat of battle or climbing out a mountain in search of treasure. The sounds of adventure will be at your back, egging you on further, to push harder and be the adventurer you were meant to be.

Voice over artists did more than a fantastic job here. Every NPC has their own personality and comes across than more than just a mere NPC. Credit here goes to the dialogue writers as well, they created beautiful scripts that our voiceover artists play out beautifully.

Replayability:

This is an MMO, it is all about playing it each day and every day. There are more than enough quests that will keep you busy for a long time. Exploring this massive world with friends will make it more than worth the time.

Scroll
Just hovering around…

There is also a massive roadmap of future content to come, so we will not be getting bored anytime soon.

MGR Gaming’s Conclusions:
Spoilers Ahead:

As much as I stated that this is an amazing game, it is not without its flaws. The biggest being the monthly subscription fee we have to pay so that we can buy the game. Another aspect that comes across as discouraging, is the clash between Single Player and Multiplayer.

Setting
A gorgeous light show…

Those are the only notable issues I have had with ESO, but through and through this game is still more than worth it. It is full of beauty and Fantasy. There is so much lore to discover that the world of Elder Scrolls will never be the same as you experience Elder Scrolls Online.

Beautifully crafted quests, massive regions, and incredible beauty awaits. A world full of wonder lies at your feet.

MGR Gaming Score 7
Three
