Two Worlds Review

Pay heed, for thou are about to set upon a quest like no other….

Some key points that this game offers:

  1. Massive open world.
  2. Weapon & Gear merging mechanic.
  3. Multiplayer.
  4. Beautiful world brimming with life and mystery.

Gameplay & Controls:

The game is played with both mouse and keyboard; the mouse being used mainly for fighting or casting magic with the left and right mouse buttons, the mouse also acts as your eyes, where you point it is where you look.

The keyboard’s WASD is used for movement, numerous other keys and shortcuts are available for your enjoyment and they can be remapped giving you complete freedom as well. The game has partial controller support as well.

Two
Four would be better!

The gameplay is fun and downright enjoyable, rough on some edges but still plenty fun nonetheless. The game plays pretty much like most other RPG’s, three is a unique skill tree that gives you freedom to be what you want to be, whether it is an archer, knight, thief, mage or a combination of your choosing, the game allows total control here, and a nifty extra is that if you are willing to grind out XP, there is no cap, you can truly become all you want to be.

Graphics:

The visuals for the game are quite decent and appealing, as I briefly mentioned above, the game requires some polishing, with some patches they can really turn this into one amazing and beautiful game, it has so much potential, and so much to offer.

The NPC’s are all busy with their own things in their own daily lives. These said tasks are clearly present and visually appealing to see as they are performed. The world is full of wild animals, some that act as enemies trying to attack you as you get close and others that just randomly roam the forests of the regions they inhabit.

City
City by the sea!

Attention to detail was invested here, each species looks beautifully drawn, their movements and behaviours quite realistic to that of their real world counterparts.

The wide open worlds have been beautifully sculpted for us; it is a joy and pleasure to explore and to just stroll through, from the forests to the beach, takin your horse for a leisurely walk is an absolute joy.

Big
That is a big one!

Character design has been just as beautifully implemented, for our Hero as well as the NPC’s, be they friendlies or enemies, they were all carefully drawn to give each one a unique look and feel along with their own behaviour patterns, Human or Orc.

Sounds:

Absolutely amazing, the theme song truly is a work of art, it is an absolute joy to listen to before hitting that load button. The in game music and sounds come together beautifully adding to the liveliness that Two Worlds is trying to give us, the animal sounds are all original and adds that realistic feel to them.

Fight
These Bandits made a big mistake.

Character voice overs are beautifully done as well, again delivering enjoyable content for us, the Old English a definite win here; it is a fresh and enjoyable aspect to experience.

Replayability:

The game offers multiplayer so you and other players can have at in PvP mode.

As I briefly mentioned, there is no level cap so with some patience you can grind out one immortal being here if you invest enough hours into the game.

Skill
There is much to learn!

There are also multiple choices for numerous quests in the game, they shape and change a lot of the in game happenings so if you wish to experience how things turn out if you chose differently, then a replay is required.

MGR Gaming’s Conclusions:
Spoilers Ahead:

When it comes down to the numbers Two Worlds really is a great and amazing game, one can easily see that they invested a great deal of time and effort to deliver us an amazing game, a game that is massive in scale, size and fun.

Soldiers
Friend or Foe?

The game does require some refinement, polishing and fixes, there are quite a few annoying and simple bugs that can easily be patched, such as the horse running into an invisible barrier when it gets too close to a wall or tree, not game breaking but annoying.

If they invest some time and effort into these fixes and some general QOL updates they can turn Two Worlds into one amazing game.

Views
Plenty of beauty to be seen.

The game plays very well, the merging mechanic is truly amazing, allowing you to merge a duplicate piece of equipment with the one you already have improving its qualities and values. This is a nifty and quite unique add on that truly makes exploring a thing you pay attention to, since one can merge items numerous times, allowing you to power up your gear to quite a degree, this can be done with weapons, armour pieces and rings, and that is not all.

The main quest is quite a unique and enjoyable one, filled with lore, mystery and excitement. Antaloor has amazing lore if you take the time to listen when people talk; the history and current events really create an atmosphere that is a joy to experience.

What
What is the worst that could happen!

The alchemy system is also quite unique and a lot more hands on then what we are used to.

Two Worlds really has a lot to offer in terms of fun, story, lore and RPG mechanics that we just love thus making it a must try for any RPG fan.
