ASUS and Noctua have teamed up again to bring you the world’s quietest air-cooled GeForce RTX 3080 graphics card.
For those unfamiliar, Noctua is a well-known Austrian computer hardware manufacturer that specializes in CPU coolers and computer fans. They have already garnered over 3000 accolades for their products.
The ASUS GeForce RTX 3080 Noctua Edition Graphics Card is the result of a collaboration between ASUS and this incredible brand.
Some of the features of this new card include:
- Two Noctua NF-A12x25 PWM fans provide excellent cooling and minimal noise.
- A custom-designed heatsink efficiently dissipates heat generated by the GPU and VRAM.
- The ROG Strix and TUF Gaming graphics cards have signature features that help deliver performance and endurance at every level.
The Specifications of the ASUS RTX 3080 Noctua Edition Graphics Card:
- NVIDIA GeForce RTX™ 3080
- CUDA Cores: 8704
- OC mode boost clock: 1815 MHz
- Gaming mode boost clock: 1785 MHz
- 10 GB GDDR6X

Noctua is one of the most popular brands among PC builders. The efficient yet powerful design of Noctua fans delivers adequate cooling without adding extra noise, and its distinctive color palette is easily identifiable.
Indeed, one of the reasons ASUS employs Noctua fans in the ROG Ryujin series of CPU coolers is because of their industry-leading performance, which is also why ASUS worked with them on the ASUS GeForce RTX 3070 Noctua Edition graphics card. ASUS has reassembled the team to install best-in-class cooling on a GPU that is even more powerful..
The heatsink is notably larger than one seen on even the TUF and Strix versions, with a generous fin stack that connects to six heatpipes and a large heat spreader for the GPU chip and its memory, resulting in a card that is 4.3 slots thick. ASUS and Noctua researchers undertook lengthy simulations to optimize the heatsink design to take full use of the air propelled by both Noctua NF-A12x25 fans, resulting in incredible levels of cooling at impossibly low noise levels.
Kent Chien, Corporate Vice President and General Manager of the ASUS Multimedia Business Unit. Stated:
“The synthesis of our custom-engineered unified heatsink and Noctua’s famously whisper-quiet fan technology forges a creation that is more than the sum of its parts. This inspiring partnership with a world-class leader in DIY PC cooling establishes a noise level breakthrough for the powerhouse GeForce RTX 3080 Noctua Edition graphics card — and a visual style that you won’t find anywhere else.”
Noctua CEO Roland Mossig said of the collaboration:
“The response on the first Noctua Edition graphics card was simply overwhelming, so we’ve been thrilled to continue our cooperation with ASUS. The RTX 3080 with its heat emission of up to 340 watts is an entirely different beast to tame than the RTX 3070, but by leveraging our fan technology and a customized heatsink, we have once again managed to create a card that combines serious GPU power with excellent quietness of operation.”

The NF-A12x25 was an excellent choice for this partnership because it is one of the most powerful and quiet PC fans available today. Thanks to an impeller built of Noctua’s patented Sterrox® liquid-crystal polymer that lowers airflow leakage around the edge, its blades can sit just 0.5 mm away from the outside frame.
Acoustic efficiency is additionally improved with Noctua’s unique PWM IC with Smooth Commutation Drive technology, as well as Flow Acceleration Channels on the tip of each blade and Inner Surface Microstructures on the fan frame.
Anti-vibration cushions on each corner keep the fan from rattling against the heatsink or shroud, making it one of the quietest high-performance fans available.
Atop this heatsink-and-fan combo, ASUS uses the same custom brown shroud as on the GeForce RTX 3070 Noctua Edition, which securely mounts the fans to the card while beautifully tying together the entire Noctua aesthetic. For users who have other Noctua fans and heatsinks in their system, this will complement them perfectly for a unified look.
While this card’s design screams “Noctua,” it’s packed with the same ASUS features that make these custom graphics cards the best on the market. Users can choose between maximum performance and decreased noise in the BIOS, with the latter set as the default for the quietest RTX 3080 available.
The fans can switch off completely under light loads thanks to the 0 dB ambient cooling, and a ventilated backplate provides for better airflow at the heatsink’s far end. Of course, ASUS Auto-Extreme assembly technology ensures long-lasting performance and durability right out of the box by automating accurate, clean soldering for each component and a 144-hour validation procedure.
