We can only hope! As of the time of writing, it is unknown if Shadow of the Erdtree will receive another expansion.
The first significant DLC expansion for Elden Ring is called The Shadow of the Erdtree, and it was revealed on February 28, 2023. As of this writing, all that is known about it is its name and a new concept image (above) that shows a blonde riding a horse similar to Torrent toward an unhealthy, ashy version of the Erdtree that can be found in the main game. Even by FromSoftware standards, the entire scene appears depressing, with gloomy skies and a plethora of spectral figures scattered among the ruins.
The first press release for Elden Ring’s Shadow of the Erdtree DLC only stated that it was “in development,” so a release date has not yet been formally announced. More significantly, Yasuhiro Kitao, a producer for FromSoftware, recently said at the PlayStation Partner Awards 2023 that the company “still has a little way to go” with the DLC’s development before it releases, but that it is “progressing well.” It appears likely that the expansion will take a little longer than anticipated, given recent rumors that it would launch in early 2024.
