“We don’t have much longer to wait”

Xbox CEO Phil Spencer has hinted that fans of Hellblade will not have to wait long for the next chapter of Senua’s story.

Spencer was recently asked which upcoming releases he is most excited about in a recent interview. Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 is at the top of his list. “I just love Ninja Theory and everything they do,” he says. “Their craftsmanship is fantastic. I love how that game is coming together.

Spencer, in addition to expressing his excitement for Hellblade 2, teases that the wait for the highly anticipated sequel is almost over. “We don’t have that much longer to wait,” he says.

Hellblade 2 is already set to release in 2024, and Spencer’s comments suggest it could arrive as early as next year. Given the timing, the game could make an appearance at The Game Awards 2023, which take place next week on December 7, with a new trailer revealing the release date.

Of course, all of this is just speculation for the time being, and we’ll have to wait for an official announcement to find out when we’ll be joining Senua on another mind-bending journey.

Matt Booty, Xbox’s president of game content and studios, revealed earlier this year that fans can expect a major release from one of Xbox’s studios four times a year. “We’ve got a goal of a big game four times a year,” he said. “So every three months, we’ve got something new coming out.”

Along with Hellblade 2, the Xbox 2024 lineup includes Obsidian’s action RPG Avowed and Towerborne, a co-op action game from the creators of the brilliant Banner Saga trilogy.
