Moon Studios' No Rest For The Wicked A Stand Against Microtransactions In Action RPGs

Director Thomas Mahler Promises No Pay-to-Win Features or Overpriced Cosmetics, Setting a New Standard in Game Development

Moon Studios, renowned for their enchanting Metroidvania titles Ori and the Blind Forest and Will of the Wisps, is gearing up for the early access launch of their latest creation, No Rest for the Wicked. As anticipation builds, director Thomas Mahler is making waves with his commitment to a microtransaction-free experience, challenging the industry norms.

The recent controversy surrounding Diablo 4’s pricey in-game bundle, including a $64.99 horse skin, has brought the issue of microtransactions to the forefront. Mahler, in a bold statement on X, assured fans that No Rest for the Wicked would steer clear of such practices.

In a further departure from the status quo, Mahler clarified https://twitter.com/thomasmahler/status/1764965523433918889 that No Rest for the Wicked would not feature rideable horses at all. Instead, the focus would be on innovative level design and immersive gameplay experiences.

Scheduled for release on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X, with an early access debut on Steam slated for April 18, No Rest for the Wicked is poised to redefine player expectations in the action RPG genre. By prioritizing player enjoyment over monetization tactics, Moon Studios aims to set a new standard for ethical game development.
