Rainbow Six Siege Gets New Content In 2022

Rainbow-Six-Siege-Gets-New-Content-In-2022

Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege has been extremely popular since its initial release in 2015 and has recently hit its 80 million player mark and as such Ubisoft recently outlined all the upcoming changes coming to Rainbow Six Siege this year in a YouTube video.

These changes include the first new map in three years, permanent game modes, and even a new operator.

In year seven, Siege will get three new maps, one for each of the first three seasons of the year. There will be four new seasons in total for this year.

The first will be a competitive map set in an Irish country club, with season two’s offering being a team deathmatch map set in Greece. Season three will get another comp map, this time in Singapore, the home country of that season’s new operator.

Year 7 Season 2 will introduce a Belgian Operator as well as another exclusive Team Deathmatch map, this time set in Greece. Season 3’s Operator arrives from Singapore with a new competitive map, while the year’s last Operator is expected to come from Colombia.

Limited time Year Passes and Premium Year Passes will be available for purchase until March 21. The limited-time year pass will unlock four-season battle passes through the year and will include 14-day early access to the new operators.

The premium year pass will include everything of the above, as well as a 20 battle pass tier boost, early access to new Operators,  “exclusive Exotic weapon skins, VIP credits, and more.”

Further steps to deal with toxic players and avoid harassment were also described in the video. Viewers will be able to report players they are watching via match replay, and the team will disable friendly fire, voice, and text chat for players who have been reported for abusing them.

Ubisoft will introduce a reputation system throughout the course of the year, with the most surprising element being the restriction of account privileges for players with a low enough reputation. Alpha Pack awards and access to the Test Server were mentioned in Ubisoft’s video as privileges that would be restricted for low-rep players.

There will also be “several dedicated updates” for those who play on console including “aim control personalization, new controller input presets, and field of view settings”. There will also be a shooting range introduced for new players to have a space “to practice, train, and experiment without the pressure of a match”.

Operator Tips, another onboarding feature, will let players get to know each Operator and their gadgets, as well as providing tips and tricks for playing Attacker and Defender Operators.

Last but not least, considerable reworks and balance modifications will be made to some operators, with Thatcher being singled out.

Rainbow Six Siege fans will be happy to sink their teeth into all of the new updates coming this year, as it appears like this year will be a major year for the franchise in terms of content.
