Unknown Worlds is preparing to release yet another exciting underwater survival adventure for PC and console
Prepare for another terrifying deep sea survival adventure when the next Subnautica launches in early 2025. The latest financial report from publisher Krafton, as spotted by Rock Paper Shotgun, gives a rundown of the company’s upcoming releases, including the next entry in the Subnautica series. According to the document, it will be developed by Unknown Worlds, the studio behind both the original Subnautica, which was released in 2018, and the 2021 sequel Subnautica: Below Zero.
The third installment, simply referred to as “The next Subnautica,” is set to release in the first half of 2025, so we’ll have to wait a little longer before we can dive back in for another round of tense underwater survival action. It will be available on both PC and console, though no specific platforms were mentioned.
So far, that’s all we know in terms of details, but it’s plenty to get excited about if you enjoyed the first two games. We’ll have to wait until the official reveal to find out what Unknown Worlds has in store for our next ocean adventure.
Of course, this isn’t the first hint of a sequel; Unknown Worlds advertised for a senior narrative designer “to help shape the next game in the Subnautica universe” in April 2022. According to Krafton’s latest report, Project Black Budget, an extraction shooter from PUBG Studios, will be released in late 2024, and Project Gold Rush, an action-adventure sandbox in development at Vector North, will be released in early 2025.
