The nominees for Game Of The Year have been revealed

The Game Awards, Geoff Keighley’s annual celebration of the year in gaming, are quickly approaching, with this year’s event set to take place early next month. Keighley announced the nominees for The Game Awards 2023 today, including the six major titles competing for Game Of The Year.

Baldur’s Gate 3, The Legend Of Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, Alan Wake 2, Resident Evil 4, and Super Mario Bros. Wonder will compete for Game Of The Year.

The following games received the most nominations:

  • Baldur’s Gate 3 and Alan Wake 2 (tied, eight each)
  • Spider-Man 2 (seven)
  • Super Mario Bros. Wonder (six)
  • The Legend Of Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom (five)
  • Resident Evil 4 (four)

Elden Ring was named Game of the Year at last year’s Game Awards, beating out God of War Ragnarok, Horizon: Forbidden West, Xenoblade Chronicles 3, Stray, and A Plague Tale: Requiem. God of War led all other games with six award wins, while Elden Ring took home four.

The 2023 Game Awards will be held on December 7, 2023, at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, California, and those interested can now vote in each category on the event’s official website. Nominees are chosen by a jury of over 100 media outlets from around the world.
