Burn
Burn Zombies, Burn…

Gameplay & Controls:

The game can be played and enjoyed with either keyboard and mouse or a game controller, it comes down to your personal choice.  The game handles and plays beautifully, the controls on either device are easy to use and navigate as you play the game.

Die
Die, Die Die!

The game is a hybrid Zombie killing game, we are used to defending against hordes of Zombies as they assault our base, or we are but one soldier who has to survive a city infested by unspeakable undead, alone and on foot; with Zombie Driver HD we are still alone but we have numerous sets of wheels.

The game has three game modes for you to play, there is the Blood Race which is all about racing towards the finish. There is Slaughter mode which is pretty much survive as long as you can whilst racking up points. Last but not least is the brilliant campaign mode we have that is full of humour and fun times. The campaign is divided up into 31 missions, each one unique with its own goals and rewards. As you complete missions you earn new cars and unlock weapon and vehicle upgrades.

Boss
Boss Fight!

These missions are a mixture of rescuing survivors whilst completing other unique goals such as securing areas, most missions have a secondary object which upon completion rewards you with a bonus reward.

Graphics:

This version of the game comes as the HD version so one can say that the entire game has received a major overhaul in terms of graphics and visuals and an added bonus, the game supports PhysX.

The entire game is beautifully created right off the bat. The city is divided up into numerous sectors such as suburbs, industrial areas, business districts and then the inner city. All these locations have been beautifully created to give us a unique and vibrant world to play in. There are numerous destructible objects that add to the flair of the game.

Here
Here i go.

The cars we use all come unique in their own rights, carefully detailed to their real world variants. As you mow down the hordes dismembered body parts build up as you drive, your car gets painted a lovely blood red as you mow the hordes down, the same goes for the roads, one can easily see where the dead has been made dead once again.

Sounds:

No brilliant game can be brilliant without an amazing soundtrack. That is exactly what we have here.  The game is full of little sounds that bring this game to life in a very astounding way, if you pay attention whilst you are cruising down the streets you can hear the moans of the hordes before you approach them.

N2O
N2O for more speed!

Tyres screeching as you speed away or come to quick stops adding a very realistic feel to your driving, that and the numerous other small sounds that accompany your cars. Each car is a different model and type so the engine sounds are all different further adding to the game.

The background music is key here as it adds life and entertainment to the game as you go about your missions. The voice acting to differentiate the wide variety of survivors you rescue further adds to the game.

Replayability:

Zombie Driver HD has three game modes as I mentioned, the Campaign mode offers a level select mode which you can use to replay your favourite levels over and over or to grind the achievements out that the game offers.

Race
First to the finish line.

The two other game modes will keep you busy for an even longer period since they are based on unique game modes and mechanics that will test your skills in new ways.

The game does not have an online or multiplayer mode which does kind of feel lacking, since the game gives off the vibe that it could have been quite the stunning multiplayer game.

MGR Gaming’s Conclusions:
Spoilers Ahead:

When it comes down to the brute numbers Zombie Driver HD is another perfect add on to the Zombie culture, bringing us another stunning game to play in an all new method of playing. Who knew Zombie killing on wheels could have been this fun?

Tank
Now this is a set of wheels i can use.

The campaign plays beautifully, the conspiracy theories you pick up as you save survivors, the tit bits of information that are collected here and there slowly pieces the story together of what happened and how it happened, making it a thrill to experience as it plays out in front of you. Every mission you play is fun, there is no drag or over difficult requirements, it does take some skill and patience here and there but it is all doable and the ride is more than fun.

The extra game modes bring new mechanics and to dos to the game that will encourage you to spend been more time behind this game, whether you are in it for the racing or just here to mow down some more Zombies; Zombie Driver HD will deliver and not disappoint.

That
That’s a whole lot of Z’s!
