According To Xbox, Frequent Baldur’s Gate 3 Suspensions Are Not Automatic

Xbox advises turning off auto-upload for clips containing adult-related content

While Larian, the creator of Baldur’s Gate 3, works with Microsoft to examine the alarmingly widespread account suspensions given out to those who appear to be simply sharing clips of the RPG’s romance sequences, Xbox support has publicly urged gamers to disable auto-upload for gameplay clips containing “sensitive information.”

“To provide clarity on Baldur’s Gate 3 mature content enforcement actions, Xbox account suspensions are not automatic,” explains Xbox Support in a new tweet. “Each clip is reviewed by a moderator and, if found in violation of our safety and content policies, actioned accordingly.”

This begs the question of why so many gamers appear to be being punished for uploading typical, if spicy, video from a game that was clearly cleared for sale on Xbox. This is likely what Larian and Microsoft are attempting to resolve, with Larian describing the bans as “annoying and uncool.”

The good news is that these suspensions will not appear on your Permanent Gamer Record. “Our team evaluates appeals and can reverse suspensions if action was taken in error,” says Xbox Support. “If this was a first offense, for example, we will remove the suspension and let players know why it happened and how to avoid future issues (e.g. how to turn off auto-upload when sensitive content is being captured).”

The tweet then directs readers to the support page for game capture. “To turn off automatic uploading from your console, press the Xbox button to open the guide, then go to Profile & system > Settings > Preferences > Capture & share > Automatically upload.”

It’s not difficult to see what’s going on here. In other words, if you’re going to record scenes that put Baldur’s Gate 3’s newfangled penis physics to the test, you should probably keep that footage to yourself, at least until this mess is smoothed over.
