“The worst part of being Redigit, the creator of Terraria”

The creator of Terraria has revealed the most difficult aspect of creating one of the most popular indie games ever – and it has something to do with Stardew Valley.

Andrew ‘Redigit’ Spinks may have created the open-world survival game Terraria, which has gone on to become one of the most successful indie games ever, but that doesn’t stop their wife from playing other games and telling them about it.

The developer took to Twitter on December 3 to reveal one of the drawbacks of being the creator of Terraria: “The worst part of being Redigit, the creator of Terraria, the 8th best-selling video game of all time, is listening to your wife fangirl over Stardew Valley,” the developer revealed.

Stardew Valley remains extremely popular

To be fair to Redigit’s wife, Stardew Valley is also extremely popular among indie gamers. It’s also an exciting time for Stardew Valley fans because the 1.6 update is just around the corner. Indeed, the game’s creator (Eric ‘ConcernedApe’ Barone) recently updated fans on the upcoming new content, stating that he is in “extreme crunch mode” for Stardew Valley 1.6.

Even though it was released in 2011, the sandbox game is still receiving updates. It was revealed last week that Terraria’s fish are now visible after 12 years, making fishing much easier. Similarly to the Stardew Valley developer, who recently revealed that the game’s players’ enthusiasm keeps them motivated to continue developing it, we learned earlier this year that Terraria “still sells like hotcakes,” which is why its devs can’t move on.

Both Terraria and Stardew Valley are worth a try if you’ve somehow missed them over the last few years, especially since new content is still being added on a regular basis. Both games are also available on multiple platforms, including the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, Nintendo Switch, and mobile devices.
